Mr. O.P. Khaitan
(LL.B. (Calcutta), Enrolled 1967)

Mr. Khaitan is the founder member of the Firm. After practicing an illustrious career in advocacy spanning more than 23 years with the law firms of Khaitan & Co. and Khaitan & Partners, O. P. Khaitan established his own law firm O. P. Khaitan & Co. in 1990. O. P. Khaitan is an Advocate-on-Record of the Supreme Court of India and an Attorney-at-Law. He is also a recipient of Bell-Chambers Gold Medal from Calcutta High Court. He specializes in successful resolution of civil and commercial disputes through arbitration and alternate dispute resolution measures at national and international level. He handled and achieved success in several arbitrations relating to oil & gas, commodities, construction, engineering, international trade and government and private contracts. He has conducted number of arbitrations of ICC Paris, UNCITRAL, American Arbitration Association, London Court of Arbitration, GAFTA, FOSFA and other International Arbitration Associations. In addition, O. P. Khaitan also acts as an arbitrator in arbitration matters.
Mr. Khaitan also heads the Firm’s national and international litigation practice. Besides being widely recognized as a leading arbitration and litigation lawyer, he is also acknowledged for his corporate and commercial laws practice. He is an advisor to the corporate clients for over 41 years. He advises clients on foreign collaborations, joint ventures, investments in India & abroad, mergers & acquisitions, international banking and finance, international trade and insurance laws. He has developed a wide client base, including big corporate groups, bankers and insurers throughout the world. He is also a director in many private and public limited companies.
Mr. Khaitan is a member of various international and national organizations including International Bar Association, LAW ASIA, Supreme Court Bar Association, Bar Council of West Bengal, Delhi High Court Bar Association, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Indian Council of Arbitration. He is an author and speaker on several law and business related issues.

Mr. A.T. Patra
(M.A., LL.M., Enrolled 1970)

Mr. Patra did graduation with Honors in Political Science from Ravenshaw College, Utkal University; M.A. in Political Science and LL.M. from University of Delhi. Enrolled as Advocate in the Bar Council of Delhi in the year 1970 and started his practice in the chambers of eminent jurist late Dr. L. M. Singhvi. He joined Khaitan & Co. in 1977 and has been working in O P Khaitan & Co. since 1990, when the Firm was started. He has been dealing in litigation as well as Corporate Matters with special interest in Constitutional Law, Corporate Laws, Arbitration, Taxation etc. He is a member of Supreme Court Bar Association. A T Patra is a senior member of the Firm specialized in national and international litigation and arbitration. He has wide ranging experience in all aspects of corporate and civil litigation in the Supreme Court of India, State High Courts and Judicial & Quasi-judicial Tribunals.

Mr. Gautam Khaitan
(LL.B., Enrolled 1992)

Mr. Gautam is mainly working on the corporate & commercial matters of the Firm besides his involvement in the litigation, arbitration, conveyancing and other practice areas of the Firm. He has considerable experience over a wide range of corporate and commercial transactions with a particular emphasis on international corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and collaborations, investments in India and abroad, infrastructure projects, banking, venture capital, corporate finance and securities regulations and insurance laws. His practice also includes obtaining regulatory approvals for investors, setting up of companies, advising and working on transactions like franchising, business conducting, distributorship, agency and providing all types of general legal advice. Gautam Khaitan has also worked with various international law firms around the Globe. He extensively travels abroad for client related work. He is a member of various international and national organizations and is author of several articles in law and business journals, magazines and newspapers. He is also a director in various private & public limited companies.

Dr. Praveen Alok
(LLB, LLM, Ph.D. in Law ,Enrolled 2005)

Dr. Praveen Alok has done Graduation in Commerce and Laws from Delhi University and is also enriched with Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Laws. He has been practicing laws since the year 2004. He is primarily involved in due diligences for real estate projects of various reputed real estate groups, corporate houses, banks and financial institutions in almost all parts of the country. He has been drafting and vetting various commercial documents and has also been independently handling various complex commercial transactions for the purposes of joint ventures, business collaborations including merger, de-merger, amalgamation, takeovers, etc. covering various aspects of commercial and real estate laws. He has also been advising corporate houses, individuals and investors on various transactional works and issues relating to acquisition, mortgage, succession, inheritance and alienation of immovable properties.

Mrs. Bharti Badesra
(B.Com., LL.B., Enrolled 1995)

Ms. Bharti has been working with the firm since 1997. The diverse areas of her legal practice include commercial and criminal litigation, arbitration, unfair competition and trade practices and employment laws. She has been regularly appearing before State High Courts, Supreme Court and other judicial and administrative authorities, representing various multi-national and domestic companies, and successfully handled cases many of which have been ground breaking. In addition to the litigation service, she has also been providing advisory services by way of legal opinions and drafting of replies. She has also been actively involved in arbitrations and intellectual property matters including patent, trademark, copyright, design and geographical indication registration and prosecution (opposition and infringement) for enforcement of IP rights.

Ms. Roopa Dayal
(B.Sc., LL.B.)

Ms. Roopa was enrolled with Bar Council of Delhi in September 2000 and is associated with a Firm since January 2003. While working with the Firm, she had the opportunity to handle hard core litigation relating to Recovery matters, injunction, writs, company winding up and other company and Trade-mark matters and matters related to Negotiable Instruments Act, Arbitration etc and her expertise is used in the following areas:

• Drafting various agreements, Drafting and filing suits, petitions, SLP, various Applications including Application seeking interim relief, Appointment of receiver or Arbitrator, Statement of claim, statement of defense, counter-claims, notices etc.

Mr. Manish Jain

Mr. Manish is a first class graduate in Commerce and Law. He studied B.Com (H) in Shri Ram College of Commerce and was the topper in his law graduation from South Campus, Faculty of Law, Delhi University. He has been working with O.P. Khaitan & Co. since enrolment as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi in the year 2005. He is primarily involved in the corporate and commercial matters of the firm. He has special interest in Foreign Exchange laws and compliances, joint ventures and collaborations, capital markets and corporate finance.

Mr. Arihant Jain
(B. Com., LL.B., P.G.D.I.T.L.)

Mr. Arihant is commerce and law graduate with a PG Diploma in International Trade Law. He has been a topper throughout his law academy and was awarded by the Chief Justice of India on his being the top merit-holder in PG Diploma. Enrolled in 2006 with the Bar Council of Delhi, he started his legal career in corporate law field. In a very short span of time he has independently handled several assignments of National and International Clients. Mr. Anubhav Johri

Mr. Anubhav has done his graduation in law from Delhi in the year 2007 and was enrolled as an advocate with Bar Council of Delhi. He also holds certificate and degree on Intellectual Property law courses from World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Indian Law Institute, Delhi. Anubhav is regularly dealing with authorities like Reserve Bank of India, Foreign Investment Promotion Board, Ministry of Corporate Affairs and has assisted several clients in obtaining necessary approvals to establish their business in India. He also has good experience in corporate documentations and incorporation and post-incorporation legal formalities of companies in India and in conducting legal due diligence and corporate inspection for both private and public companies.

Manik Kapoor

Mr. Manik has done his graduation in law from Kurukshetra University and was enrolled as an advocate with Bar Council of India in 2007. Along with a degree in law, he has completed one year Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights from Indian Law Institute, Delhi. Manik is regularly dealing with Real Estate transactions, Property Due Diligences, FDI & RBI issues Commercial and Corporate Laws; viz.
